Michael Opwonya

Prior to joining Airtel, he worked as a graduate Trainee at National Council of Science and Technology- Ministry of Finance Uganda
He then joined Celtel Uganda as Financial Analyst, Procrement Officer, Administrative Officer, Operations Logistics Manager, Projects Transition Manager, Contracts and Logistics Manager, Planning Reports and Compliance Manager and Procurement Manager.
Joined Airtel Uganda on 3rd May 2003.
Rajesh Agrawal

Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Diploma in Management. AMIE in Electronics and Telecommunications. Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering with Gold Medal.
Prior to joining Airtel, he worked as Head Switch – ADIL (now Vodafone), Sr. Engineer, Telecom R&D and Integration Instrumentation Ltd, Kota.
He joined Airtel on 1st August 2001 and served in different capacities;- Head Switching Operations, BTSOL, Rajasthan 2001-2003, Head STP, BTSOL All India- 2003-2004, Head Switch, BTSOL– North India- 2005-2006, Head Network Services , Mobility Airtel, India – 2006-2009 and Chief Technology Officer - Airtel Seychelles- 2009-2011.
Joined Airtel Uganda on 1st October 2011 as Networks Director.
Uwagboe Ehimwenman

Uwagboe Ehimwenman is a distinguished telecommunications professional with 27 years of experience spanning both telecommunications and banking industries. He holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, and a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His career reached a significant milestone in 2011 when he was appointed Chief Information Officer of Glo Mobile Ghana Limited, where he successfully managed critical infrastructure projects. His journey in telecommunications began at Globacom Limited in 2003 as a Senior Engineer, where he quickly advanced to Senior Manager. Prior to this, Ehimwenman built a strong foundation in banking technology, working as a Systems Engineer at Merchant Bank of Commerce Limited and later at Continental Trust Bank Limited (now United Bank for Africa), where he led the technical team with distinction.
Sarwiyat Rahaman

Sarwiyat Rahaman has been appointed as Acting Airtel Business Director – Airtel Uganda, effective 1st December 2025.
She is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of operational and business development experience.
Sarwiyat was previously in Airtel Nigeria in the role of Head, Public Sector Sales - Enterprise Business.
In this role she was responsible for creating the public sector sales strategy, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with critical enterprise clients, partners, and other stakeholders as well as planning & launching new products services to ensure customer satisfaction within the Enterprise portfolio.
She holds a MSc.in Marketing – University of Liverpool and BSc. Economics – University of Abuja.
Helen Wanyana Ddungu

Helen Wanyana Ddungu is a highly accomplished business leader with over 19 years of progressive experience in the financial services sector. Throughout her career, she has successfully held various roles that showcase her versatility and expertise, starting off as a teller, Teller service manager, Unit risk manager, Executive assistant to the Managing Director, Branch manager, Head of customer network, and Head of retail banking.
In these positions, Helen has demonstrated exemplary leadership in key areas such as portfolio management, risk oversight, product development, people, and relationship management. Her extensive experience with renowned banking institutions, including DFCU, Standard Chartered Bank, and I&M Bank, has equipped her with a broad understanding of the industry and its dynamics.
Helen's career is marked by a proven ability to drive growth, strengthen customer portfolios, deepen customer relationships,risk management, and lead high-performance teams. Her client-centric approach, sharp analytical skills, and effective team leadership have garnered her recognition within the banking community.
Academically, Helen holds a bachelor’s degree in development studies from Makerere University and an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom. She is known for her modern, people-focused leadership style that empowers her team members, fosters trust among clients, and supports sustainable business growth, positioning her as a vital.
Ali Balunywa

Wongani Muthiya

Wongani Muthiya joins us as Sales & Distribution Director, Growth Markets for Airtel Uganda effective 1st September 2024.
Prior to this role, Wongani was with Airtel Zambia where he held multiple roles, starting off as a Zonal Business Manager and eventually promoted to Regional Business Manager. Prior to joining Airtel, he worked at Zamtel as Zonal Business Manager Copperbelt. Other roles held include General Manager, Sales & Distribution at Zain Zambia PLC and Sales Manager at Zambian Breweries.
Wongani has a proven track record of driving sales growth, increasing revenues, and expanding market share across the regions under his leadership. He has over 20 years of extensive experience within the sales environment, underpinned by strong strategic and executional capabilities.
Wongani holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Electronic Commerce and Marketing from University of Notre Dame Australia.
Flavia Ntambi Lwanga

Godfrey Bakibinga

Godfrey Bakibinga has been an integral part of Airtel Uganda for 14 years, bringing over 16 years of expertise in legal and regulatory affairs management. His journey with the company began in January 2010 at Celtel Uganda Limited (trading as Zain Uganda) as a Legal and Regulatory Advisor, following his role as a Tax Consultant at Ernst and Young. Throughout his tenure, Godfrey has been instrumental in numerous landmark projects, including Airtel Uganda's successful IPO and listing on the Uganda Securities Exchange (2023), the acquisition of the 20-year National Telecom Operator License (2020), and the complex merger with Warid Telcom Uganda Ltd (2013-2016). His educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, complemented by various professional certifications in executive leadership, telecommunications regulation, and project management. As an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and member of both the Uganda Law Society and East African Law Society, Godfrey also serves as the chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Airtel Uganda Staff Provident Fund, bringing comprehensive legal and corporate governance expertise to the Executive Committee.

Joined Bharti Airtel on 3rd January 2003. Handled various leadership roles, as Head Consolidation – USGAAP, Head Consolidation – IFRS, Head Consolidation – BPA. between 2003 to 2012. In 2012 moved as financial director Airtel Sierra Leone and then subsequently as financial director of Airtel Tanzania Plc in 2015.
On 1st May 2023 joined as financial director Airtel Uganda.
Soumendra Sahu

Since joining Bharti Airtel in January 2015, he has held several key positions, including CEO of the Gujarati Circle, Chief Operations Officer for Odisha, and Vice President - Head of Sales for multiple regions including Goa, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Jharkhand. His diverse experience, which includes roles at Tata Docomo, Reliance Communications, and Asian Paints, brings valuable strategic insights to Airtel Uganda Limited. As our new Managing Director and Executive Director (pending confirmation at the next Annual General Meeting), Soumendra is poised to drive the company's growth strategy and enhance customer experiences while delivering strong shareholder value.
