Airtel Money has partnered with 25 Commercial Banks, Credit Institutions and Deposit taking Microfinance Institutions (MDIs) to ensure our customers enjoy 24/7 convenience and ability to access funds anywhere in and out of the country. At the convenience of your figure tips using mobile phones (Smart or Feature Phones - locally referred to as “Katoki ”) and Computers, Airtel Customers are able to deposit money from their Airtel money accounts to their bank accounts. As well, they can withdraw money from their bank accounts to their Airtel money accounts alongside being able to do ATM Withdraws at specific locations where the service is enabled.

The service is offered through the Airtel Money channels ( App and USSD Code *185#), partner Banks’ USSD codes and Mobile Banking Applications.

The Airtel Money Mobile banking service is designed to provide superior security accessibility ease of use and limit the cash handling associated risks to customers. All transactions are approved by the customers using their Airtel Money PINs, Mobile Banking Passwords or One Time Passwords – OTPs provided by the Banks.

With specific banks and financial institutions, Airtel Money Customers are able to send money to any Bank Account despite not being the Bank’s Customers. This is aimed at facilitating business growth and ensure that no matter the occasion, Ugandans can transact with each other whether banked or not.

• Dial USSD Code - *185# or Install Airtel Money App on your phone
• Go to Financial Service Menu – Option 7,
• Go to Banks – Option 1,
• Select Your Bank,
• Select Service (Airtel Money to Bank | Bank to Airtel Money),
• Enter account number,
• Enter amount,
• Enter Airtel Money PIN (4 Digit)
• Airtel Money sends a SMS confirmation to you phone number

REVOLUTIONISING OF PAYMENTS WITH AIRTEL MONEY PAY 

This is a new service that enables Airtel Money subscribers to pay for goods and service using Airtel Money instead of exchanging cash for such purchases at supermarkets, pharmacies, fashion stores, restaurants etc.

The service enables Airtel money subscribers and merchants to immediately confirm such payments via text message (e-receipt) that is sent to both subscriber and seller of the goods/service. No relationship between the buyer and the organization or account number is required. All you need is an Airtel money line as a subscriber and an Airtel Money Pay merchant as a business

A merchant is any business out there that accepts Airtel Money as a means of payment for their goods and services.

To become a Merchant, one must be involved in any legitimate trade, fill in the Airtel Money Pay merchant application form and provide the necessary documentation required of the entity/ individual

On successful application, merchants are assigned merchant numbers by Airtel and these are displayed in the merchant outlets for Airtel Money subscribers to direct payments to the merchant

How does Airtel Money Pay Work? 

Once a merchant has been assigned a merchant number/ ID, Airtel Money customers can now pay from their phones to the merchant using the following ways

USSD Code 

• Airtel Money subscribers dial the *185*9# Enter Merchant number* Reference* PIN# complete a payment.
• The subscriber can put in the other transaction details for reference details like invoice number, purpose etc
• The merchants can also initiate a transaction on their SIM menu and the subscriber will only input their PIN to complete the payment process.

Fast, convenient, secure – Airtel Bill Payments 

In the near past, paying everyday house hold bills was a whole day affair, this involved queuing in the bank to draw funds, followed by another long queue in the utility branch to make payment. Often times, one would have to skip work for a day to pay bills. In some instance one would find they have less funds than the minimum acceptable bill only after reaching the counter.

Today Paying utility bills has been simplified to the extent that one can pay all their utility bills in the comfort of their home, office, car or even over tea with a friend in an instant. Airtel Money has revolutionized bill payments and made it affordable, convenient, accurate, instant and secure.

A clear example is URA Tax payments; Tax payers can easily pay their URA tax obligations conveniently through the Airtel Money platform. Currently users can make payment for most tax types under the Tax revenue category. To pay URA Tax using Airtel Money, the Tax payer must first visit the URA online Tax portal and register their payment. The Tax payer will be issued with a Payment Reference Number (PRN). Following the generation of the PRN, the payer should access the Airtel Money menu by Dialing *185#, choose the Pay Bill option, and select URA payments. Under registered payments, the user will be prompted to enter the PRN and confirm the payment with his or her Airtel Money PIN. Instantly the payment for that PRN is made to URA and the Airtel user notified of the successful payment.

Step 7: You will receive an SMS confirmation on your phone
